Not bad, pretty good actually. Couple of suggestions:
The enemy ships need to move faster. Right now, it looks like they're standing still because they move at the same speed as the stars.
Also, if you want to make the game more challenging, you could make the enemy ships move towards the player, instead of just straight across the screen. (I was able to finish the level pretty easily by just hanging out at the bottom of the screen, because the enemies didn't try to attack me, they just flew on by.)

In most shooting games, enemies follow a pattern or set of patterns. Some enemies have limited AI which usually includes chasing or more accurate firing.
I'm still waiting to see if anyone will make a game similar to Lords Of Thunder...
