But if you delete the password you could cause trouble elsewhere. I know, I have has this problem with really complicated programs where the author figured some smartass would do exactly what you described (i.e. me! ) and the program would lock up or just set the default value for the cheat to 'off' and it would be time consuming to change this... and then you have to recompile if you want the same performance... It turns out quicker to just 'unlock' the cheat or ask the author nicely.
And here is a simple formula: num = (142*num+87.25). The inverse is num = ((num-87.25)/142). I just made this up quickly, I'lll make up a really complicated formula when I can be bothered, and post it here.
Does anyone want to see the program?

By the way, is it possible to have your password programm lock other programms? I mean (maybe I'm not expressing myself too clearly) that you have to run the passwordthing first, before having acces to the other programms? You should probably change those programms with a code which refers to the password???? :???:

Probably, what youd have to do is create a windows program, then use that to lock a few programs. What the lock would do is craeate an .exe in an .exe so to speak, then you can either use the program to run in the backround and if the password is already chosen, unextract the .exe, or type it in everytime you want to run the program.
In dos maybe, but it would be hell trying to get your program to lock onto some interupt and contunuesly check if the program is locked or not. Possible under dos, but not worth it.

Easy to lock programs... Just dump the source I'll give you
if you are interested into the main module, then make into an exe
But I know what you mean. I might look at that idea.

Again... Why do you want to lock a program?
If you are giving the source code you just go and delete the password bit.

I thought I already explained the problems that I had because I thought I would be a smartass... Besides you could make your programs an exe anyways, then even if the person ran the .bas file it would be slower, and (although I am not sure on this) when you include things like the ' $INCLUDE line the bas has a heart attack anyways.
Nath, just pretend we are in the ideal world where no one is a smartass (sounds like communism  )
