Do you know WHY ie loads faster? becuase it loads at startup, when you load windows, slowing down your load. Trying it on a 98 computer and youll see the difference is minimal. On my old computer ie 5.01 took 30 seconds to load. Mozilla about the same. But then, mozilla had tabs Smile

Also you do know that you can enable quickstart? It creates a little icon in the corner for faster loads. Mozilla takes less then half a second to load then.

For me, Firefox used to be really slow, but now that I'm almost never using IE except for Windows Update, IE takes at least 10 seconds longer than FF.

I think WinXP preloads the apps you've used the most.

Thats right. Even if WinXP doesnt preload it, FF is quite small so it should load fast.

I once tested the start speed of both ff and ie once on my comp and ff one hands down. I also like the ability to customise it. Also who offers $500 for anyone finding signifigant security bugs? Someone not expecting many security bugs and yes Mozilla foundation did do this, and if there are any to exploited that way they are more likely to be revealed. Yet with IE security bugs are common place. Finally I use the tabs till kingdom comes.

Ahem... I'm on 98, IE loads in ~2-3 sec.

FF loads in roughly 10-15 (never timed it, but it takes considerable time)

I like IE more, just because it's faster.

FF may be small, but it still takes tons of time to start.

Funny you should be saying that... First time I load up the computer, FF takes around 10 secs to load. But ANY time after that.... it takes less than 1 second. Fine for me then.
