Wow, sorry for wasting your time guys. Turns out AUTOEXEC.NT wasn't in my system32 folder. I did a search and found that it was luckily in WINDOWS/repair. I copied it over, and its working now. I'm not sure this is a SP2 issue afterall.

You might have opened an interesting can of worms there, man...perhaps SP2 is attempting to shut out MSDOS applications? Hrm, interesting...
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

I'm absolutely sure I've read this exact conversation before... Whats up?..

It's been claimed that SP2 stopped many "old" applications from working, not only MSDOS...
I won't be installing SP2 untill I know that's just "hype".

I still have autoexec.nt in my system32 folder after installing SP2. DJGPP and QB still work. MS might have fixed it in later versions.

meh, SP2 reviews are very bad. The 'security centre' or something they have released with SP2 itself has big flaws which can be used to trick the user into thinking his firewall/antivirus etc are running while in reality the arent. :barf:

Ditto. I'm not gonna install it until I know all those critiques are just hype (like when everyone said that Windows XP won't run MSDOS stuff  )

Most of the people who write reviews for SP2 are clueless hacker wanabes who can barely change their desktop wallpaper and who still have to consult the manual for which button to click in Outlook Express to download their email. Regardless, it's wise to not trust a new Windows OS SP until it's been tested for awhile "in the field".

Agreed. I'm waiting until a decent review comes out.

Well you know those icons can be confusing.......

Right anyway im going to get around to installing sp2 anyway, but the real test is if qbasic works with sp2 under a cpu that includes the code protection exectution (basically, to stop code from creating code in real time and calling it). An example of such cpu would be AMD's 64bit cpus and intels new cpus.
Allegro has already been reported broken under sp2 and these cpu's.*
*Well, only the stretch blit funtion. Should be easy to repair
