aardvark, it might hurt your eyes because of interlacing...sometimes those older monitors use interlacing on higher resolutions and wow can whites be painful...I had a Hansol 15" monitor which I bought brand new a number of years ago and trying to work at 1024x768 was sheer hell because it was an interlaced resolution.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.
