Quote:The Fractal tutorial by Terry Cavanagh is also very interesting. It's nice to see that Terry is still alive Big Grin. He disappeared from MSN Messenger a year ago, after leaving VPlanet.
Terry's still very active in the indie scene...he's got a new RPG project going on right now that I'm helping him out with.

Great read Pete, good to see that you haven't lost your edge yet. Keep up the good work. Big Grin

RE: COMICS

I know you hate them, but I've sent Pete enough for 4 Issues, so unless he discontinues them you're just gonna have to Page Down that unfortunate thing. The comics were all written in a 3 Day period, and most of the suggestions posted were written after the current batch were finished. Those suggestions that were written before I had all the issues finished, and that I agreed with, were... obeyed... But they were few.

Basicly BBY was a joke I thought up at three in the morning after reading the comics on Petes Site, but the submit page was bust, so pete stuck them in the mag (which had next to no content at the time) instead.

I spent 15 minuites on each, and I really don't care to try any harder. And the font is the font used in JTHM, so it wouldn't really be a rip off if I changed it, now would it? I know it looks shit, but I wasn't trying to write the fucking crow okay?

I will, however, resend Pete Gif versions because you asked so nicely.

The comic is one of the best features of QB Express. And as far as I'm concerned...QB Express blows QB:TM so far out of the water, it's not even funny. QB:TM would never look at something by Z!re, for example...but it would spend half an issue shining the helmet of Tsugumo. Instead of shutting out the upstarts and ass-kissing the legends, QB Express cuts to the chase and through the bullshit and for that, I have tremendous respect for you, Pete. I plan on submitting an article of my own soon.

A big punch in the face for whoever that was who whined about the comic in the last issue. Big Grin

The comic should be there, ofcourse, everything that wants in, should get in, but please, change the font.

A good comic writer listens to feedback (not suggesting matt is a bad one Tongue) and the font is really hard to read...

I like the fact that it has a clickable table of contents Smile

I whined about the comic, but I think I gave constructive critizism. The comic can be much better. As a comics drawer/designer, I know that spending 15 minutes in a comic is not enough.

Why should I shut up about the comic when I think it could be done better with just a little of effort?

I am of the opinion that a comic is two halves: plot and drawing. If the plot or the drawing are sub par, the comic is sub par. No matter how fun it is, if the drawing is uncared of and done in a blast, the comic looks bad. Both parts should be worked on! Plus the comic should be readable. I could write the best comic of all ages and write the text using the wingdings font. What would happen?

matt2jones, I did not know that you gave pete the first 4 issues, so my comment about you not taking care of the critizism is taken out. My apologies.

Anyone have any suggestions for new columns or features for the third issue?

I've got some ideas I'm rolling around, but I'd like to hear what you guys (and gals) think.

As for the content in the next issue, the only things I have *for sure* right now are Chaoticmass's scripting tutorial, the second edition of Neo's QBNow!, and more BBY comics from Matt2Jones.

Then there's the stuff that I *might* be getting: Relsoft and Terry Cavanagh have both suggested that they'd both probably submit another tutorial, and Oz will probably be writing another review for me. Barok, Nekrophidius and Will Moores have also mentioned that they're interested in writing articles, but haven't committed.

Matt2Jones: If you'd like to revise the comics you sent in for the following two issues, feel free. I'll run the updated versions if you'd like.

I'm not sure I'll have the time right now, but over halloween I should have time (between more study, applied Maths tutorials, getting my years quota of coding done and recording/engineering/producing my bands album...) to revise, do more issues, or do a sort of commentary where BBY explains WTF happened in the previous issues.

Nathan: What sort of Comics are you working on/have worked on? I didn't realise you actually knew what the fuck you were talking about, but the only comics I've had contact with are one or two manga my friend lent me, a couple of spiderman issues, Demonology(http://faith.rydia.net) and megatokyo(http://www.megatokyo.com)... and Johnny... Okay, that's starting to sound like allot now, maybe I am just an Idiot Big Grin
