creating an email document
#11
Quote:I know how to print to a file, but I am having trouble making it a file that is readable in the email program like a html file. Anyone with any other advice or help is appreciated.

I would like to go into email, create a document, and add this file as an attachment that is readable in email.

what are you fretting about then? just format the output in the text file. You are having trouble with alignment then view the file in a monospaced font(in windows).

This guy explains how to send mail from W2000 -XP with just some lines of vbs.

Just copy the script to a text file, modify it to fit your needs, save it with the extension .vbs and double click it..The attachments don't work for me.

ok I got the html to work somewhat now, I'll keep trying. Thanks

Its dumping everything as if its one line. How do you put seperate lines in??

edit again:
Also what about spacing? I see that I must not be able to use tab when dumping it to the file. Do I just have to put spaces in instead?????

edit once again :
I also have got it to work as a .txt file, but am having trouble with formatting the data (spacing etc.)

ok last edit:
Made it a txt file, inserted to an email document, changed the font to courier and everything seems to line up good!!!

Thanks for all the help!!!

nice to see you got everything working. JFYI chr$(13) inserts a newline character, chr$(32) insterts a space =). Lookup the ascii character chart in QB's help. Its really helpful(no pun intended).

JFYI? When I try to insert a space using chr$ when I'm righting a text file from qbasic it doesn't enter a space but inserts a black box instead.

Oh, I meant inserting a line in the file not a space.

So I just use multiple WRITE or PRINT statements instead of using CHR$(13) cause of the black box thingy.
