Hi, I am trying to install QB for my son on an xpsp2 home OEM os.
I unzipped the file to C:/ProgramFiles/QuickBasic
Went into the folder and tried to open the QB shortcut and the following appears:
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem window
C
rogra~1\QUICKB~1\qb45\QB.PIF
Invalid startup directory, please check your pif file. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
Could some help out a QB Noob? TIA

Try this:
1. unzip the folder to c:\qb45\
2. double click the qb.exe file
it should work. if it doesnt, we are here =). BTW SP2 and QB dont like each other =(.

QB works fine with SP2. Just delete the .pif and run the .exe.

XMS 2.0 always works if you set up your _default.pif properly. EMS may or may not work, depending on your motherboard. It has nothing to do with XP, let alone SP2.

OK so I extracted the zip file to c:/program files/qb45
I click on the executable, qb and it says that the path is not correct.
With the zip file open in Winzip I can click on the executable and it works but after extraction it doesn't. Also after extraction I cannot find the .pif file.

SP2 breaks a lot of functionality. DOS programs have become even more incompatible...
