...a super computer to emulate a single neuron? That seems a little overkill-ish to me. We started using super computers to model nuclear explosions and cosmic collisions years ago. I don't understand how one neuron could be more complex than either one of those math models.

Maybe he meant to emulate it "right as it is", with every parameter in sight. I mean, every bit of DNA, every bit of RNA creating proteins, and stuff. Pretty complex.
The galaxies simulations use statistics to model and simplify what's really complex.

Hey if we could build supercomputers to emulate the workings of a human brain then we could've prolly made more powerful AI

Eureka! I was reading one of your posts about the only way of creating intelligence is to have self awareness and a self chosen purpose. Why not create to sets of bots, one set whose purpose is to survive and the others purpose is to destroy them. Find an enviroment where movement and access to information is possible for a computer (eg, the internet) and watch them go.

Wow, that's like putting dogs + deer in a comfined space....see what happends..like ancient Roman gladiator battles..
FYI, they would send out deer first, then dogs, then wolves, then lions, then people....

Let me guess...
Lions 100
wolves 10
dogs 1
deer 0
people 0
dogs got deer, wolves got dogs, lion got every thing else..

A purpose for AI if it was in an electronic form, (such as a computer)
would be, electricity. After that would follow things that would further supplement its main purpose... Electricity!!!
Anyways, there's alot more but I figured that would be one important aspectg of true A.I
Nemesis...
StrategQ is coming! (It's a QBASIC clone of the classic strategy
board game, Stratego.)

Why are we sitting around talking about it when we could be sitting around coding it. I say that everyone interested in this thread should get together and form a team or something to try and make some really good AI.
I'm currently working on a project and could really do with some help.

Rattra? Could use your help too.
lol Rattra you almost got it:
dogs got deer, wolves got dogs, lions got wolves, lions + humans got each other (usually a lion would come out on top  ).
