The main two good free ones that I've come across/heard about are blender (http://www.blender3d.com/) and Anim8or (http://anim8or.com/)

That looks nice, although I think it requires lots of skill to make good-looking models with it. Smile

I just read something about 'Poser', is that any good?

I use Poser 4 a lot. Poser 5 has been out for awhile but you need a pretty beefy system to use it. Poser is a character modelling program, but its downside is that it's very difficult to make character animations that aren't "stiff". Takes a hell of a lot of tweaking, and even the "experts" of Poser have trouble with it. So on the surface, it's a great program to get introduced to character modelling, but if you want to go anywhere past the basics, you need something better. Poser's awesome for stills though...I honestly can't think of a better program for still images than Poser.
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

Lightwave7 Modeler, is the best program I've used for modeling. The animation is quite a bit harder than Poser because you have to set up the bones and weightmaps yourself, but it's worth it. In my opinion, it also has the best rendering engine around... so far. Wink

I tried three versions of Blender including the newest one with W95 and W98 too, and they freezed my computer all the time.

SO WHAT TO DO????

I hope Anim8or will run...

There must be a better future for the Cheetahs!

Halloween is over. I'm making a Santa Clause now!

Just kidding. I should be able to animate it this weekend because I don't have to work. Tongue
