So...what do you all think?

Quote:This doesn't make sense at all. Oh well, I suppose someone will eventually be able to give a reason why.
I can't say much more about it either. It just crashes and I had to shut the process down.

Quote:DeskQueen doesn't start up when Windows starts up. Later, the option will be included (as written in the unfinished dialog), but for right now, it doesn't do that (and it does have to be enabled, as it will be disabled by default). So I have no idea what you're on about here.
I was worried because the checkbox was already activated, so I thought "he wants to have this program auto-startup when he enables the feature" Wink Sorry, if I misunderstood though.

Quote:Virtually all programs of this type do this, it's a standard feature.
Virtually yes, but I don't like my system tray to become twice as big when all programs add an icon to it I never use Smile

Quote:Considering the fact that there will eventually be thousands of pictures per category...well...you get the idea. This probably isn't a good idea to implement, sorry...
Well, maybe then something like "Download X new pictures" where X is a number the user enters? Wink Then the user can control himself about how many pictures he wants to download.

Quote:Thanks for the feedback though. Although I have no idea why your firewall would be blocking image downloads, considering DeskQueen uses standard HTTP to obtain images...
No problem. Wink About my firewall, it's a very heavy and good firewall that blocks everything unless I add a rule to it which says "DeskQueen.exe has access to ports x and y, inbound and outbound, tcp and udp" or similar Smile If there's no rule for the specific program/port/protocol, then everything is blocked Smile

EDIT: Oh and another note: I don't like this "auto picture on desktop"-thingie. I.e. when I download a picture it immediately puts it on my desktop. Maybe you could just let it download the picture and then ask the user whether he wants it on the desktop or not?
Anyway, I've downloaded all images you have so far, and the best one of the images was my original wallpaper, which I had installed before I had DeskQueen Wink It's a nice picture of Leela Wink Click on this sentence to see my desktop Smile (btw, that black bar on the top is my firewall Wink).

Look in the configuration. Big Grin You can turn that feature off. It's just the general practice to use the downloaded image as the new wallpaper...hence the reason for wanting to obtain a new image anyways. Big Grin

I have never had the program crash even once so I have no idea wtf's up with the crashing. I've even got a ton of error-checking in that area. Maybe you could provide me with the information Windows returns when it crashes?
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

Hehe. I just didn't see it...

No information. It was as if your program got in an infinite loop without threading. Your program just doesn't respond anymore, the buttons and everything don't work, and when you refresh the screen, the deskqueen program isn't refreshed (i.e. you'll see a big grey rectangle where the form should be). :-?

What language did you make it in? C with Foxpro?

I did once have the problem with the window not refreshing, but it eventually did come back. I have no idea what caused it. When you said it "crashed", I read that as a real crash...as in an error window that states that the program has done something wrong and is going to be terminated by the OS. But I do believe I know where the source of the error comes from...and I'll look into it. If it's in the About box, then it's probably causing an error when it attempts to read the contributor's list...it might be "locking up" if it can't find it. That shouldn't be happening, because there's a lot of code to prevent errors there, but who knows.

And no...Foxpro? Umm...? Who the hell uses Foxpro. Big Grin

Check the About box out Wink If there's a lot of error checking there and the error is generated there, you obviously missed something Smile

Foxpro? I saw a DLL in the DeskQueen directory with "Fox" in it, so I thought, he's using Foxpro Smile Oh well, obviously not Smile

Yeah I guess I shouldn't have used the word crash. It just froze the first few times and nothing would work so I had to end the task but no error was produced.

THAT was the word I've been looking for!!! "FROZE" Wink Oh well, I shouldn't have used the word "crash" either for a program that technically "froze" Wink

foxcbmp3.dll

It's a general purpose GDI graphics library. For DeskQueen, it provides the flip and B&W options for now, but I may use some of its other features later on. Unfortunately, for the moment, my attention is focused on finishing a contract bid, so I haven't been able to do any further work on it. Hopefully I'll have time in the next couple of days to bring the GGA2004 to full fruition but tomorrow's going to be another day-trip, so it's up in the air right now. But I'll do my best. Big Grin
