Hey everyone, I'm going to be writing an article for this next issue on DOS / QB emulation (on other platforms and through programs like DosBox). If any of you have used DOS emulation programs, could you tell me what you used and what your experience was? Did you use them to emulate QB? Also, if you could capture screenshots and send them to me, that would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Due to a lack of submissions and a lack of time on my part, I have decided to push back this issue of QB Express until Saturday, November 20th.

This will hopefully allow enough time for some major tutorials and articles to be written, which have currently missed the deadline.

Right now, I have the following articles for the next issue:
  • * The QBCPC 2004/2005 Needs Entrants! - Adigun A. Polack
    * Interview with RelSoft - Piptol
    * Interview With Na_th_an - Piptol
    * LensFlares - RelSoft
    * Pixel*Tile Scrolling Engines - DarkDread
    * Data Structures & Algorithms: Pathfinding I - abionnnn
    * QBNow! Chapter 5 - Neo Deus Ex Machina
    * Bobby The QBasic Maniac Comics - Matt2Jones

And I'm still waiting on the following articles:
  • * GUI Series Part 2 - VonGodric
    * QB Scripting (Part 2) - Chaoticmass
    * A game review - Oz (?)
    * FreeBasic Article - Blitz (?)
    * SCREEN 13 Manipulation Tutorials - Nemesis (?)
    * Blast From The Past! - Pete
    * Gallery Article - Pete
    * QB / DOS Emulation Article - Pete

I don't know for sure how many of those are actually going to come in... but I'm hoping the extra few days will buy enough time for at least some of them to get done. And also, I have a lot of stuff to write still, and I won't have time to do a good job writing any articles until Friday or so.

I'm also still looking for QB news items, especially stuff that hasn't been published anywhere else. Let me know if you have any announcements!

And for all of you who were looking forward to seeing Issue #4 today, sorry. I'd rather release a good issue on Saturday than a bad issue now.

I will be out most of the day but when I get back this evening, I will submit a couple of items for this issue.

Believe me dude, I know exactly what you're going thru right now. This is the reason I stopped QBOA each time it had a run...lack of time and submissions. It seems the Qmunity is bipolar...interested at one moment, disinterested the next. Once the honeymoon with something new is over, people lose interest in it. QB Express has been around now long enough for the newness to have worn off, so what's happening is certainly no surprise. Big Grin

And yeah, that's word to all you slackers...write something already! Big Grin (I should talk, really...hehehe) Wink
I'd knock on wood, but my desk is particle board.

Well, I can imagine that Nek is right, although I certainly don't want to believe it Wink

I've made articles for the QB Express up to and including March, and even more will come Tongue I think I'll write more in my Christmas vacation... 3 weeks of pure time... ! Big Grin

Well, we ended up getting home later than expected so I'm not going to have time to finish the article I have planned tonight, but I will at least start on it. Tomorrow might end up with the same result, as might Friday, but between now and then I should be able to get at least one article done. Big Grin

EDIT: First article sent. Hoping to have time over the next couple of days to do the other one, as well as (finally) being able to open GGA'04.

Tonight I received two more articles:
  • *"Pointless Points" by Joseph King
    *"Beating The XP Straightjacket" by Nekrophidius

and a few news items, including a neat "Ode to Zext.net" by 19day. If you didn't know, Zext.net will unfortunately be shutting down very soon.

I also made contact with several of the writers for the next issue. A lor of people have said that they'd try to have articles ready by Saturday.

This is shaping up to be a pretty good issue, (as long as I can get all of my sections done on time)!

BUT: I can always use more. Especially QB news items, since the QB News Briefs section is pretty lacking this month, after last month's gigantic news section. So if you have any news relating to the QB scene, send it in!

:o

Hrmm why didn't I think of that sooner. Could you pretty please also put somewhere that the current people on zext.net will have to secure their stuff before the server will be taken down? As far as I know, only 19day is aware of it. Aetherfox and lithium; I know they come to these fora too so if you read this .. you still got sumting on there too.
