At Long Last: QB Express Issue #4!
#21
Yeah, I agree with you on reviews. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to write them myself... so I need other people to write them for me. So far, Barok and Oz have each written one review, and Oz plans on writing some more in the future.

However, I need to recruit MORE reviewers. So if you're at all interested in writing for QB Express, contact me! PM or email: pberg1 [at] gmail.com.

Actually Firefox is newer than Netscape. Netscape, if I remember correctly, is based off the Mozilla browser (ever notice it comes with composer, email, and newsground support?).

Quote:I'm not switching. I've found that there are more sites that render badly in Firefox. I don't care about standards. I care about how much stuff renders fine and how much doesn't.

That's only because Microsoft have spread their IE virus (oh no I'm turning into a Linux user Tongue) everywhere.

Pete is talking about the brand spankin' new Netscape beta (0.5.6+) that is based on Firefox 0.9.3. (Personally, I don't like it; the UI makes me want to barf.)

Almost, Mozilla is bassed of Netscape, not the other way around. Mozilla was the last resort for Netscape to survive, rewrite all proprietary code as open source and release it to the public. Now they want to use the best of the Mozilla/Firefox releases to remake Netscape, which is a fair deal.

I think he meant that in 75% of cases linux users practice the Religion of Linux and are a little bit...

Hey, anyone interested in writing stuff for the next issue?

Here's what people have said they'd submit so far (some of them are holdouts from Issue #4):
  • -GUI Series Part 2 - VonGodric
-"Coding, the way it was MEANT to be" - Oz
    -A game review - Oz
    -QBNow! Vol. 2 Part 1 - Neo
-Article on a game project - Neo
-Bobby The QBasic Maniac comics - Matt2Jones
-File Access Tutorial Part 2 - MystikShadows (Stephane)
    -A tutorial (?) - Nemesis
    -Scripting Series Part 2 (?) - Chaoticmass
-Character Generation Tutorial (?) - Levi
    -Joe's Pointless Points 2 (?) - Joe King
    -"Something" - Nekrophidius
    -QB Emulation Follow-Up - Pete
-Blast From The Past! - Pete

Invariably I won't get all of these submissions, and even if I do, there's ALWAYS room for more stuff! I need writers!

Also, I still need a game and screenshots to write this next month's Gallery Article on. If you've got a game you want featured, send me a copy (as well as some screenshots) and I'll take a look!

And once again, I need letters to the editor. Nobody's really written in this month. I don't want to have to repeat what I did last month, where I basically published two message board postings as "letters to the editor" (though they were decent posts).

I ESPECIALLY want to hear criticism of QB Express. What are we doing WRONG? What could we improve? Everyone always writes glowing reviews, and the only complaints I've ever seen have been of the comic and of the formatting getting screwed up on some of the code sections. Is there anything else about this magazine that you don't like?

Anyway, Issue #5 is due out a few days after Christmas. Look for it the week of the 25th to the 31st of December.
