Thanks Plasma for redirecting it to fbc.sf.net, sourceforge seems to be much faster now, they are not allowing big files hosted on web pages since a couple of days ago and the server will also be upgraded, looks like - some outages can happen this week.

Ok I have downloaded freebasic and now I can't figure out where to do the programming! All I get is a bunch of parameters. Do I type my program in a text file and then take it to dos or what?

VonGodric has written an editor that you can use.
For the editor+FreeBASIC bundle: http://forum.qbasicnews.com/viewtopic.php?t=7958
For the editor alone: http://forum.qbasicnews.com/viewtopic.php?t=7389

Good work :bounce:

for consistency sake one thing though:
in the linux version the libs should be under a linux dir like the windows and dos ones.

also to think about:
should the fbc compiler be renamed to fbc-win, fbc-dos, fbc-lin or moved into the bin dir?
If somebody has more than one compiler running in the same dir, fbc for dos and windows have the same name...

They are... after you run the install.sh script.
Compiler will go in /usr/share/freebasic/bin
Headers in /usr/share/freebasic/inc
Libs in /usr/share/freebasic/lib
A link to /usr/share/freebasic/bin/fbc is created in /usr/bin

This is to allow fb to work system wide (that is, also for other users), in true Linux spirit.

DOS port is now up for download at fbc.sf.net; you can put it in the same dir as the win32 build if you rename the existing fbc.exe to something else. DOS TinyPTC won't work under NT-based Windows (NT, 2K, XP, etc.) because the DOS port of TinyPTC uses the DJGPP nearptr hack. No QB gfx emulation for this version either; hopefully will be ready for next release.

Allegro works fine in DOS too, so we have a compatible SVGA library to use finally? Ow, it not QB, doesn't count ;)
