Fast music
#21
As a newcomer I am not sure is this is considered off subject, but I thought I did see some reference to BBC BASIC on the forum anyway. If anyone cares to go to the BBC BASIC page of my site below, you can download 86 Music Files working from the BBCMENU.EXE included. These were obtained from a Public Domain disk from 1980s BBS sites. Perhaps you can convert some of this to QB.

The music industry originally objected to the distribution of thus stuff, after I obtained a copy. I doubt if they have cause to complain now, in view of the massive amount of MIDi stuff around. Let me know if the tempo of any is still wrong.

If you point me to a BBC emulator I'll listen to that.

Anyhow, the topic was about originally arranged and played music in little time Wink

You do not need to buy the BBC BASIC for Windows Emulator. Just click on BBCmenu.exe for any of the BBC stuff and a button menu will display to run any of the files. Click on BBCtoBAS to convert any to a readable ASCII BAS file fro QB or whatever.

Buy? Sorry but no, that's against my religion.

I've found some free BBC emulators:

Why to pay when you can use freeware? Wink

Btw, if you are into retrostuff, you'll enjoy this videoclip:

You seem to have ‘ got hold of the wrong end of the stick ‘. I am using a fully legitimate registered copy of BBC BASIC for Windows to produce the necessary BBCmenu.exe etc. If you take the trouble to look at my site you will find the details where to download the limited Shareware version of this software.

I have some doubts you will get other emulators to run these files. I have several registered BBC emulators, but rarely find files are interchangeable.

They work perfectly.

Note that "payware" doesn't mean "good software", and "freeware" doesn't mean "bad software".

Kind of back on topic now

I don't normally record anything, just play in bands, but our drummer's fucked off, so I gave it a go a few weeks ago and made this (lyrics + guitar) in one hateful sitting. I just made one shitty drum loop to record it over, so that's what you're gonna hear.... And no microphone at my house so the lyrics are missing...

Fast song in boths senses.

Nice right now. Did you use direct input? it kinda shows: the guitar doesn't have "body", but anyhow, that can be suited for some kinds of music.

It would be nice if you added those lyrics. Mind you, I record with a $2 Genius microphone Tongue

Moi aussi Big Grin

DI is not good for recording guitars...There are many reasons for this, and (in a studio) the main one is the quality of the sound. When you mic an amp with an XLR mic, then you get a much higher quality of sound that DI with a standard jack. A mic'ed amp also outputs ambient noises, picked up by the mic adding to the authenticity of the sound.

Yeah, I know, but I kinda like the shitty-wire distortion I get, and it's a lot faster to do, so more suited to a song thought up in 2 mins... Get that THEWORLDISGOINGTOENDJUSTBEFOREIFINISHTHISSONGFUCKITLETSDOSOMEMORESPEEDANDWhatever vibe.

I gotta wait until the house is empty before I record any screaming
