Weird issue when trying to post in a certain topic
#1
When I try to link to this:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/default.mspx
...in a post that's longer than 15 lines or so, the post just doesn't go through. I see "Waiting for forum.qbasicnews.com" in the status bar forever, no matter how long I wait. But taking out the link makes it work, and so does truncating the post.

I tried to show here a copy of what I'm trying to post, but it seems to cause the same thing here.

I saved it to a file, and the post is exactly 1000 bytes (saved in Unix text format, ie carriage-returns are 1 not 2 bytes). If I try to quote it here, the same thing happens.

So... you mean you can't post anything containing that specific link in only that topic? Weird... I just tried posting that exact same link with and without [url] tags over it and it worked fine for me.

Could you maybe post here exactly what you were trying to post in that other topic in its entirety (if you remember it all that is) so we can hopefully get a better idea of what is causing the problem?

EDIT: Hrmm... could you e-mail me the post? geredNOSPAM@blarg.ca

Oh, sorry. There's been a misunderstanding.

That tutorial I pointed you to tells you how to setup MySQL, which is different from Microsoft-SQL.

If you want to work with Microsoft Access databases, you'll probably have you use Microsoft SQL.

MySQL Standard is free (this is what you just downloaded), MySQL Pro is $595.
Microsoft SQL (also known as MS-SQL) is $4999, or $1489 for the limited-to-5-users version.

The reason I assumed you wanted MySQL instead is because you actually mentioned "MySQL". Plus you used the words "download free", which don't belong in the same sentence with most Microsoft products. But I should have known something was wrong when you said "Is there a MySQL file download free from MS or something?", because MySQL doesn't come from Microsoft.

Interesting... I'm actually stumped on this one... perhaps it has something to do with the colour tags? Maybe trying posting this with BBcode disabled and see if it works?

The same thing happen if I put in a [code] block or disable BBCode.

I'll try peices of it:

Ah ha! When I try to edit in the last paragraph it does it again!

I'll edit in more a few words at a time: The reason I assumed you wanted MySQL instead is because you

And that's as far as I can get. I can't edit a single character more into that post.

EDIT: But I can put the rest of the post here:

Maybe it has to do with the length? I'll count and post as many characters as I can.

That's 1100 (not counting line endings). I guess that's not it. I'll delete the useless post now.
