I got around to porting one of my old engines in QB to FB, and used the functionality of a lib I made for FB to give it transparency. I have big ambtions for this engine - texturemapping, bumpmapped textures, Lightmapping, transparency (already implemented)....
Yeah, it runs slow... but I will see if i can optimise the engine later.
Keys:
--
Arrow keys: rotate object
"[": decrease opacity of object
"]": increase opacity of object
--
It starts off with 0% opacity
It is made using only the commands from Lilo's GFX lib, implemented in the last release of FB.
Get the Transparency demo

Rel: I know you're right... but it feels so cheap... to use prewritten hardware accelerated routines...
It is indeed hard to accept...

You should see some of the demos written in OpenGL though... xteraco enlightened me to
Conspiracy - now probably my favourite demo group (before I loved farbrausch's stuff, but Conspiracy are just breathtaking...).
Universe - 57kb
Project Genesis (Final) - 67kb
I wish I could ever begin to guess how these are coded.

haha! I have already seen Conspiracy: Project Genesis over on Demoscene TV. Amazing stuff. I love the 'New Skool' demoscene so much. While OGL and new hardware may have simplified things... it sure is sexy
