Gfxlib news

just run the benchmarks from the command prompt, then you'll be able to see the results.

heh, my results turned out a little disappointingly...
Code:
gfxlib: 48281490.1062281125 pps :)
sdl: 38322243.378151515 pps (not last!)
allegro: 37970103.605585385 pps
tinyptc: 38728389.6787393675 pps
win xp sp2
p4 3ghz w/ hyperthreading
512 mb ddr2 ram
ati radeon x300
i got my allegro dll from a pretty shifty place though... where can i get the latest one without having to build it myself?

Yes, doing benchmarks by using blits makes sense, I hope to find soon the time to code new tests.
Anyway I know software blits can't compare in speed against hardware blits... gfxlib just isn't done for hw acceleration. If you really need it, I'd go with OpenGL directly.

uhm i just updated the lib with the latest build, vongodric send it to me, and it turned out that it is a lot slower now in windowed mode. it runs fine in fullscreen though. any idea why it is like that?

(AFAIK!!!)

Fullscreen is made by DirectX
Windowed is made by GDI

Recompiled the small benchmark app posted on this thread with latest build I have here and I don't see any slowdown...

BastetFurry: no, windowed mode normally uses DirectX. It uses GDI only if DX is not available on the system... or if gfxlib is explicitely said to do so via the FBGFX environmental variable.

Marzec, maybe Vongodric was experimenting with this and did a SETENVIRON "FBGFX=gdi"...
