DOS .BAT menus
#21
I always like to help anyone of any age. Have a look at all the programs and code on my site at

http://sionet.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/npage4.html

In addition to QB and FB I dabble in Just Basic, Liberty Basic, BBC Basic for Windows and the odd Pascal. There are also a few Instruction articles.

Do not give up ever trying to create Windows based programs, few shareware distributors now handle DOS stuff. Download and try the freeware Just Basic from

http://www.justbasic.com/

It is a fully working package and able to create stand alone packages to distribute to your friends, with its own forum. It almost exactly the same as the Shareware Liberty Basic except with reduced functions such as able to access API calls. If you just stick to the opening MAINWINDOW to begin, it acts almost the same a QB and accepts most QB code.

When you get more confident there is a full Help file and numerous examples to show how to start using Graphics and Text Windows. Later think about paying for a registered version of LB, for which there is a Yahoo egroup and another forum. Should or your friends ever used BBC BASIC from the UK them have a look at

http://www.rtrussell.co.uk/

This has the advantage of creating single stand alone EXE files of a mere 80K odd and a wide range of maths functions.
