MazeChase
#11
Actually, I animated the coffing "floating" around the still gass cloud. After a few test runs, I think the coffing should move steadily and the gas cloud have the movement.

I am getting ready to work out the levels at this point. It is a very simple game, but I have little time to devote to it. At the current 30 odd minutes every other day, it looks as if I still have a couple of weeks before its ready for any actual playability.

I do have a little smarter enemy logic now. He will chase you and then move off randomly when hitting an obstacle. I don't really want too much smarts as this is aimed at younger kids obviously.

Looking pretty cool ;)

Using the gfxlib or GDI directly?

Using gfxlib right now. Haven't had the need to move away from it yet.

So far I have gfxlib calls for the graphics file load and display on-screen (bload/get/put).

I have also just redesigned the "maze map" to be loaded from an external text file instead of internal DATA statements (open/input) in the hopes of making it easier for initial level design and future customization.

As long as these don't interfere with any kind of porting, then when I feel confident enough in the code, I will release it for others to recompile as needed for alternative OS'es.

Here are some updated screen shots:

EDIT (remove SS)

"Enemy" does not continuously smoke as he chases the player. Also a new "health" meter has been added.

"Enemy" catches player and "smokes" him. As player takes more hits the "health" meter drops.

I have the logic and code to load progressive mazes as the pokeballs are completely cleared from the screen. I just need to sit down and create a few more. With new levels, I also need to expand the number of tiles for the map.

I have changed the graphics and altered the game logic slightly.

The idea in the game is that a delivery of pokeballs have fallen down the side of a mountain while meeting up with team rocket. You are the pikachu and are trying to collect the pokeballs for your trainer while he keeps team rocket at bay. However, one of the team rocket members has sent his pokemon after you to try and stop you from collecting the pokeballs.

As the player guides the pikachu up and down the game course, collected pokeballs remain gone while uncollected ones will stay put allowing the player to return "up" to a previous screen to attempt to collect passed over pokeballs.

Hopefully, I will have a reasonable game course ready for some playtesters to try out fairly soon...
