explorer seems to be broken
#1
i'm not talking about internet. i'm talking about windows explorer.exe, the program that is the file manager and stuff like that. It seems that when i open a folder (my computer -> c:\ for example) explorer resets. This means that the folders close, the taskbar closes, and generally it looks like i'm logging in really fast. this happened after i was having some different troubles. a folder was freezing on me, so instead of rebooting my computer, i simply went into the task manager, closed off explorer and then restarted it. Has anyone else come across this problem?

::EDIT:: this only seems to happen when i try to access the f:\ or the g:\ drive, which is a removeable drive.

::EDIT2:: I tried opening it in an alternate program called universal explorer, and when i tried to view the f:\ drive, it tells me i got a "stack flow error" or something similiar.

::EDIT3:: Okay, now i tried using a different computer, but i had the same troubles. Might just be windows xp... gotta check with something else. Might just clean my jumpdrive off, format it (to ntfs if possible) and put back on the stuff i want.

...okay, i tried on a 2000 machine, and i had the same problem (shock!) but at least windows 2k gave me an error msg... one sec, i'll generate the error again...

Quote:the exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) ocured in the application at location 0x7c5862e1.

::EDIT4:: whoops... it seems to be a stack overflow, not a stack flow error.

Last EDIT::: nevermind. I went into safemode and deleted a file that i transferred before... (a photoshop file) that seemed to have been causing all the trouble. funny how one little file can cause so much havoc.
