FBIDE Request
#11
Only problem about the second row of tabs, as nice as it sounds, is that it can get crowded, especially if you have almost a hundred subs in a program. This WILL happen too, especially if you have a big project like a game. I mean, my game's barely been started and already i have at least a dozen subs. Wait until I find time to program! Just imagine what the tabs would be like ifyou have dozens of tabs. You'll be wondering what each tab is for, as all that may be visible is the first letter of that sub.

For subs, i liked that drop-down menu before. It made it quick to access subs.

The tabbing system is awesome.

One feature I'd like to see as well is the fact that certain settings like eg. the compiler paramters "-s gui"...the ability to save that. I also really think that compiler parameters dialog needs an overhaul from the current release, it should be automated, like check a couple of boxes rather than type it in yourself.

I also like the idea of a popup box when compiling, but this should be an option to turn off.

Automatic sub-declares is a nice feature. A window, not unlike your "convert..." window could open up, and you press a button, hey presto. I don't want the IDE putting them in the source, but just generate them for me.

Another feature I'd like to see, especially now that you've got a cool tab interface would be to somehow open up any include files on command. Maybe a button in the taskbar, press it, and all files included into the current module open up in background tabs.

Quote:I have a suggestion though. What about automatic sub declares? Yeah, I'm lazy like that.

I was gonna suggest that as well Smile

An auto declare generator, like that one that someone did a while ago.

yes, i downloaded the newest from that link, and... :o i mustve had like the version from 2000 bc  this one is purrty, even sub folding. (kick ass). but theres one major thing that i cant get used to. fbIDE needs to save info from eash file you open, about the folding. i.e. remembering which subs and funcs and blocs are folded. dont ask me how but BE does it... and i need that, lol. i cant be asked to wade thru all of my subs again everytim i open the file <.<

still, Vastly improved since the version i had last time. i wish i could code in c++... =P and aetherfox's suggestion to add a sort of checkbox for compiler options is perfect. especially if i can set a popup box... 1. there needs to be a checkbox and 2. it needs to remember the values from the latest compile.

hope these posts dont sound picky or anything :o just trying tohelp you make it better... good job so far!

oh yeah, 2 more things i'd like to see:

a print function

when you copy, i'd like the copied text to stay on the clipboard even after fbide is closed. i can't count the number of times the clipboard has been emptied b/c fbide was closed.

Once project system -and project files (will be with .MAK extension) be ready (not as easy as it sounds) then most of your wishies will be fullfilles. Like neat GUI for compiler options or folding saving.

About copy/paste after program closes -I'v been looking into that problem for a while now and I don't know (yet) how to solve it. But i'm sure it's possible.

If auto-delcares will be added the maybe I could use Zire's suggest on adg -link it as an external tool to the ide?

Opening include files is possible to do.

Help... as long as there's no proper help for FreeBasic I could actually use -no. Couse i'm not upto writing whole help right now.
