Need a little help testing a sb driver
#1
Please try sbdrvexs.exe in the examples folder. The driver supports sb 2.0, sb 2.0+, sb pro and sb 16. I've tested it on several cards and it works fine, but i need to test it on as many card/computers as possible.

Run it as
sbdrvexs sample.wav [signed]

Most 16bit samples are signed, so you'll need to tell it that it's signed. You can of course use any wav file you like.

Ok. I'm using a SB Live! card, via the SB16 emulator provided with the card. The SB Live! is using IRQ 11, the emulator is configured to run at 220h, IRQ 7, LoDMA 1 and HiDMA 5, both in Windows (98 SE) and plain DOS.

I've tested your proggie with the samples you provided. Everything sounds without problems but 8B4KM.WAV:

Code:
D:\sbdrv_build1.02_src\samples>sbdrvexs.exe 8b4km.wav
DSP version: 4.13
Error: Failed to playback wave...

The wave isn't corrupted; I've tested it with other programs and it plays fine.

Just this right now. Dunno if you want more test data.

Yeah, SB16 doesn't allow lower then 5khz, so it's all fine.

I tried it using a SB 16 PCI card under a Win95 Dos prompt.

Every provided sample played fine, except of course the 4khz one.

What dsp version did it report? And have you tried playing 16 bit samples? Someone told me that sb 16 only emulates sb pro under win 9x dos boxes.

It reported version 4.16

I tried playing a 16bit just now, and it played back really garbled under Win95, and under DOS sessions it made my pc hang forcing a reboot.

Yeah, not the drivers fault. It's the test app.

Works ok in W2000+ VDMSound- except for the 4K sample.
It returns DSP V 4.15. The underlying card is a SB 128PCI
