Quote:sin(x)/x=1 on x=0
Untrue. The limit as x approaches 0 of sin(x)/x = 1, but division by zero is never allowed.

Did the program actually crash, or just display a "Division by zero" error?

DrV: yes, sin(x)/x is used in physical optics, adn the limit at x=0 is the value of sin(x)/x
RST: I run your program in DOSBOX, and it exits saying: Quote:Illegal function call in module MCALC061 at address 0088:CBB0

SIN(x)/x is discontinuous at x = 0. You cannot divide a number by zero. Period. In physical applications, you might use the limit, but "the limit at x=0 is the value of sin(x)/x" is an incorrect statement.
And as for crashing.... the problem is obviously with DOSBox, because it works in DOS. I'll try taking a look at it though. |
