QB Express Issue #9 Finally Available
#21
Well, issue were great...once again.

Quote:As a game created in freebasic, a text adventure is always going to find it difficult to impress. In fact, it is disapointing to find that this game was coded in freebasic at all. I can't really think of a reason why this was not made in screen 12 of qbasic 1.1.

mmm...whats the matter with what it's coded?

If that rewiev was a joke, i didnt like it. If it was a "real" rewiev
then i dont like J.Burke.

[EDIT because jb writed a bit faster than i]
Quote:In this respect, it is an example of deadpan humour.
Ok, it really didnt work.

We should all relax.

Now, start praising my review.

Tongue

EDIT: Gah, I can't belive I missed few grammatical mistakes in the review!

Quote:Action part is not enough challenging or varied, puzzles are too obvious(game could use more objects and places where you need to use(?)) and the jumping part is never difficult(there are not pits in which you can fall or similar obstacles).

I wrote/rewrote it like 100 times. Damn!

I always enjoy your reviews, Lachie. It's always a good read 'cause you know what you are talking about.

About the jb thing, if he says it's a joke I'll take it as a joke and forget everything else. Peace.

That's the spirit Na_th_an ;-). Here's my review...

Graphics: Hmmm...it's a text game but the descriptions of the locations, surroundings, objects present in the room gave me some pretty impressive images in my head, color, 32 Bit, transparency even, ;-). 4/5 (cause I can't visualize animation too well...yet ;-) )

SOund and Music: What can I say, song selection was great, good selection as per situation/context etc. 5/5

I define gameplay as "how you play the game, what the game gives you to keep coming back for more, how everything keeps you into the game etc etc..... This is what a text game is supposed to do...activate your imagination, and that it did very well. as such it's a 5/5

Story: I love the context of the story ( Ihaven't finished the game yet so I don't know the whole story ;-) ) but so far it's very captivating. 4/5

Replay Value: for Text game lovers it definitaly keeps me double clicking the exe to play to game some more. and so far it left me many curiosities about what would happen in different places if I did things differently lol so yeah it's gonna get me replaying ;-).
For that, I give it 3/5 .

Challenge: It's a text game, it's ALL about challenges, figuring things out, remembering where you've been, what you have, where you are and why you're there. all the time.... 5/5 for sure.

Fun Factor: CAn you tell, by my text here, that's it's definitaly kept me interested, motivated, captivated all the way..so far? or do I have to draw you a schematic here??? lol.... 4/5

Total: 30/35 and well deserved if I do say so myself.

Excellent work all around, and I can't wait to see what else you guys are gonna come up with ;-).
hen they say it can't be done, THAT's when they call me ;-).

I wrote a whole post about what I thought of your 'deadpan' humour, but decided against posting it. I have neither the time nor the bother to get into another sparring match with you.

Just take it like this - be happy that I (or na_th_an as a matter of fact) am above the maturity of a l33t hax0r and will not write a review on SonicX, or even respond further to your review.

I see you have decided to return here. I find it funny that you say 'exile', as if it was me (or the board) that told you to leave...maybe you need to check the definition of exile again.

Pete, what's the deadline of the next issue?

[EDIT] Reply to Mystic:

Thanks man, that is truly appreciated. Do you mind if I take that and stick it on the website?
