They didn't teach you vector math in high school? Man, that sucks. Then again, most kids wouldn't have any fun with it until they found a use for it. Heh... They should start making pinball tables in math class!

Yeah, they did not. That's the problem of our school system. Even some authors of books are not qualified to write one and yet their books become the curriculums norm. As a postscript, just last year one book in world history ( used by all public high school here ) got recalled because of a lot of erroneous facts. :*(
Hey, I updated the the above demo to handle another type of camera (3d space shooter) and all NPC's are aligned on their own axis. :*) Even with the spherical movement. Gonna try to add shooting later. :*)

Ah, you got one of those German textbooks that claimed nothing eventful happened between 1932 and 1945, eh?
A 3d shooter, rel? Coooooool. I wish I was smart enough to do graphics this time, but alas, no 3d skills on my part

Hey, it's really not that hard to learn. I started reading Rel's tutorials, and it just started making sense after about the fifth or sixth time through the series. Once you have the basics down, it's just second nature. Check out those tutes if you have the time.

Nonono... I meant drawing actual 3d models, from 2d images. You would be a better consultant for that .
06-16-2005, 08:19 AM
Ohh... Are you making models now? :bounce:
06-16-2005, 10:37 AM
Nope. That's what I meant.
But I would like to one day. Unfortunately, art is not something I get develop, as a computer engineering major. Doesn't mean I wouldn't kill to take some art classes and some modeling classes.

Shooting done. :*) Used point-rotated, blended billboards for the shots. This isn't actually going to be a 3d FPS shooter(hate those types of games), but more of like a mario kart and twisted metal engine. Next on my list would be collision.
Code right now is in Spaghetti city but I'll try to clean it up and post tomorrow. :*) Haven't read the actual book but my sister who's a social studies teacher, used that and complained the erroneous facts. it turned out that it's not only her who complained but almost all teachers who have read it. :*(

I liked "X-wing" and "Rebel assault" (I had a Star Wars thing going as a kid). So I guess you're trying to do Mario Kart... with bullets? Sounds violent.
