Poor 4.86 in pieces...
#11
I pulled in pieces three computers (my P233, the P133 what was the 4.86 before, and yet another P133) to mix up them a little to fit to my needs. So i ended up with a good P133 with 1Gb of HDD space (800Mb + 250Mb), a bad P133 with that crappy video card what ran Island of Cheetahs with that awesome 6FPS, and with a new silent 3.5" floppy drive in my P233.

That last was a newer one having a proper plug in wich the cable can fit in only one way. So i plugged it in and started the machine with a floppy in the drive. It NOT worked although before in the P133 it did! Then i figured out that the plug is placed on the FDD wrong!!

Now what?
I had a newer cable what had the protection protrusion preventing plugging in the wrong way - so it forced me to connect the FDD in the wrong way.

But remember: as a last resort brute force always work  So i grabbed my screwdriver and broke a hole in the FDD's plug at the proper side...

And it worked! But that poor floppy i left in the drive dead Sad
fter 60 million years a civilization will search for a meteorite destroying most of the living creatures around this age...

There must be a better future for the Cheetahs!
