How to get old fullscreen in QB under XP?

I have this problem too.... I think everyone does except Moneo...

I got the classic 80x25 fullscreen mode by running QB directly from its EXE file (QB.EXE) rather than from a desktop shortcut. If I right-click on that EXE file itself, and set the Screen options to fullscreen instead of window, it opens correctly. Try that and see if it works?

WIDTH 80, 25
Seem to remember that fixes it for some bizarre reason by "forcing" a 25 character high screen

Further to this subject, does anyone know if the properties set on the Screen tab for a DOS EXE (like fullscreen vs window) will survive transfer to another computer?

Like if I set an EXE to full-screen mode and then distribute it, will everyone who downloads and opens it get full screen mode by default, or will their own system preferences over-ride the tab settings?

Hi.

When you get to dos, type this command.

Mode con lines=25 cols=80

And u get a real 80 columns x 25 rows.

Put in a batch file, so you don't bother to write all the command each time.

Btw, i prefer the 50x80 mode. More lines visible on screen.

If you like QB enough, try getting a PIF editor, and set it to use fullscreen with QB. Worked for my friend! Smile
