Aight i took this idea from vsft12. I got bored with the normal windows xp look so i decided to change a few things. I went into display properties and clicked on the apperence tab. If your on a winxp machine you have to change the windows and buttons: to windows classic style then click on advanced.
I messed around with the colors and fonts till i found some that i liked.

look up uxtheme.dll. A patch will allow you to install much better themes - ones that totally change window's appearance.

My laptop is running win98se with litestep, NixBlue theme, I customised a windows theme to match and made a custom colour theme for the NewCLEAR winamp skin, also found a desktop background which perfectly matches the colours used.

Mine used to look like this, but I'm with windows classic for now.

The desktop was powered by TSdesk. Notes, links to common programs and sites I use and a calendar on the desktop.

I forget what the theme was but it was through the ThemeXP program.
