I use Visual C++ 98. Code output tends to be a bit faster on average than any GCC variant in Windows.

Dunno, Dev-Cpp have always worked fine for me -and I do lot of C/C++ coding. And people please do not mistake an IDE ( dev-cpp ) with the compiler ( mingw gcc ).

func2 had no body in your original post (Jofers included the {} after the function signature, which made it work).
I recently found a free, open source C/C++ IDE for Windows and Linux. It's much better than Dev-C++. It's a lot more stable and supports multiple compilers... code completion and syntax highlighting are still available. It's called CodeBlocks. It has all of the features (major features anyway) of Dev-C++, with even more additions. It's only a fraction of the age as well, which means development must be going pretty swiftly. : ) It supports DevPaks too, which is nice (afaik, DevPaks are actually just .tar.gz files anyway). It shows that they obviously used Dev-C++ as a model when they started making it.

You can also try the VC++ 2005 Express free download. That's the full version of VC++ express, and it's available for a year for free off the MS website. No limits once you download it, fortunately. I haven't used it yet, but I tried the beta and it's pretty good. That's what I recommend if you don't like Code::Blocks.
