Quote:It's from 2001, and I'm running on Windows ME if that matters.

Since I'm here, can I ask you a recording question? I'm actually confused were to plug in. What does the slot look like?

And also, what programs can I use? Will cool edit work?

Thanks nathan. 8)

You can ask such kind of questions in the forums Smile But hey

1.- The plug in your sound card is a standard jack. You'll find 3 (sometimes four, but this is for older soundcards): one to the speakers, one for mic in and one for line in. Plug your mic in the mic in one. if you are plugging a keyboard or an amp use the line in one. Anyhow I discourage recording from a keyboard or from an amp plugging it directly, it's better to use a mic oriented to your keyboard/amp 'cause otherwise you lose the environmental acoustics and natural reverb which give warmth to the recording.

2.- Cool Edit Pro 1.0, 2.0 both feature a multitrack. Cool Edit 2000 has a plugin for a 4-track multitracker. Adobe Audition (the new Cool Edit) has one as well. So yes Smile

6. Create a place to mach those who have been banned

and many many more...

1. heh - I have enough postnuke at work (one of my tasks is maintain the intranet and develop modules for it and guess what we use for CMS... Wink)
2. It's 90% ready Smile
3. Well - I hope I don't have to do it.
4. By all means no! Big Grin
5. It's a default theme, but modified. I'm too lazy to work from scratch Wink
6. I hope not having to ban anybody.

I made some websites in the past which suffered from several of those mistakes and I've learned Big Grin

Well, if you don't have an amp it's fine. But if you can get one, even if it is small, by all means drive your processor thru' the amp and use a microphone.

The air which is between the amp and the mic creates acoustic as waves rebound against your walls, floor and ceiling. That means that what's recorded is more simmilar to what you are hearing than if you record it directly plugging the device to the soundcard. This can work for some kind of distortions (listen to Nine Inch Nails), but most of the times it sounds bad - the sound is not only created by the guitar or the processor, but the amp, the loudspeaker, its case, and your room make a big part of it.

My band and I record everything using a plain computer microphone (which costed about $2). Some look me with :o eyes when I tell this, but it's true. Having the ability to modify the sound afterwards in Adobe Audition saves a lot of money. Most of the time I have to cut high frequencies and boost the bass ones when recording a distorted guitar, but it sounds awesome.

(of course if I could afford more proffessional equipment I would use it - heh. When I earn more money I'm planning to build a nice small home studio. I've tried musical production and man, I love it).

You may want to begin playing with sequencers or loop-based music creators, basicly to add drums to your songs. I only use ACID, but many love trackers and integrated environments such as Fruity Loops or Reason.

Ahh. Well I do have an amp, it just sucks. It messes up the sound when I use my processor through the amp. So I usually just use my processor and headphones.

Thanks again.

And see if the cookie works with that..

EDIT: underbasic.webhop.org
No popups and works with cookies, no matter what secuirty level you've set in FireFox (well, apart from the block all cookies setting) Should work in IE without problems too..

Yup, it seems to happen with IE when using the redirection. It works with FF tho'.

Will it help if I disable URL cloaking at the redirection service?

By all means do your own tests. I'm talking from experience, but I'm no expert at all. Just try it with mic+amp and by direct connection and choose what you like better.

Alright I will. My friend is using the same equipment as me..(well he has cakewalk), as in same guitar and same processor, but he has a 7 year old souncard, yet he gets excellent production with just plugging his guitar in.
