i think there should be less post changing...
to change someones post is as bad as taking away their ability to speak freely (i.e. locking / deleting topics) of course, we all know there are exceptions but, come on!

Whether or not he had tried to put something, his post only contained a quote, it did not say anything else. As it is, he could still go back and change it...

To me it just looked like a giant quote. I apologize if I didn't completely read it, but it looked like just a giant block. If you want to add a statement, that's probably the least effective way to do so, why not just quote the section you're responding to and respond.
To Chaos, please don't try the "we're losing freedom of speech" thing. This isn't true, I only edited a post to remove a giant block of text, if they wanted a message there, they could have redone it. I didn't lock or stop anything, I just removed a huge piece of text that was annoying as the same text was above. All it did was clutter this topic. Quote:Whether or not he had tried to put something, his post only contained a quote, it did not say anything else. As it is, he could still go back and change it... This is very true also.

Quote:...you have to downgrade your PC to play it I myself do not need an emulator such as DOSbox - ME's COMMAND.COM does fine & Soundblaster 32 supports SB16... DOS apps work usually perfectly fine, those are not the target of that. One MMORPG I recall required you to downgrade your PC to play it(still needs win 9x though) because of its crap of an engine(anyone here probably coud've done better). Quote:...loading graphics is slower than the Apple ]['s This applies to both newer and older games - I'm not talking about load times, but how slowly it draws the graphics. The faster, the more efficiant routine, the better looking game... Quote:...you see deliberate use of the INKEY$ function If you can't control the game and you still call it that, you're nuts. Quote:...when you see the abbreviation 'MMO' I play Gunz myself - this poll option is for those who hate the genre and its subgenres after seeing runescape. Quote:...when you see the acronym EMS mentioned in the readme If a person wants people to actually be able to play a game in this day and age, they wouldn't use EMS, they would use the widely compatable XMS... ^ Infrosoft http://www.thecodeyouneed.us.to/ - A wiki of source code, mostly in PHP and FreeBASIC http://www.osadvocacy.uk.to/ - Your opinion matters no matter your OS

Wow, XMS is "widely compatible", yet EMS is not? Both are relics of 16-bit DOS. If you're trying to play a game made in the late 1990s on a modern PC, you're barking up the wrong tree. (Besides that, my 1-year-old machine supports EMS just fine, including when running under WinXP.) Anyone making a *new* game that requires DOS to play is just plain silly. DOS support will be eliminated soon enough in new OSes.

Nearly every PC I've been on does not support EMS - but XMS was supported by all of them...

Maybe this poll should have been called "You know a game is really old [or old-school anyways] when..." I've played some good games with all of those features. Just because they are old doesn't mean they suck. Of course, they usually don't compare with modern games. But that doesn't mean they aren't fun at all.

Quote:Of course, they usually don't compare with modern games. Exactly, 'cause the old games are far more playable and fun. When you can't offer eye candy you have to invest all your efforts in gameplay. Aaaah, gameplay... something that 75% of modern games completely lack.
