Hey all, can anyone reccommend me a good codec for open up music and video files externally through the internet? Half the time when I open up audio files they work, and when I open up video files they rarely work. Btw, I need this to work in the I.E.
Thanks!!!

Nothing works in "the I.E."
Files get either played by a plugin, such as windows mediaplayer (pure crap) or saved to your disk and then played.
A commonly used codec is DivX or XviD (Not the same codec, mind you!)
There's also a few new audio codecs out.. well. they're a few years old, but popular to use together with XviD/DivX

Well, what I meant by externally through I.E. was by means of a plugin in I.E. so you don't have to save to your hard drive. Thanks though, I'll check out one of those codecs you posted.

If you just want stuff played and dont care about boatware/adware/crap then get RealPlayer, it plays whatever you want in your browser..
Comes packed with DRM crap and iPod stuff..

I actually use to have that, but got rid of it for those reasons.
