What about something like this instead:

At the beginning of the post subject, just put [QB] or [FB] in brackets.

It looks very clean, and everyone will understand it instantly. The little FreeBasic horse icon is too small to make out, and the QB one that someone posted was even worse.

Now that idea I dont mind as much, it does look clean not cluttered, and it's obvious what the post is going to be about. Although I still dont like this whole idea at all, this would be a better alternative to the post icons.

I think we should merge all forums, really..
Here isnt even 20 new topics a day, so no use in having 20 forums.

Would be more cosy if it all was in one place.. everyone together.. lets sing..

SSC and Pete, the problem with that idea is that the majority of the users said they wanted post icons as opposed to no icons. The vote would have been pointless and it would go against the majority.

I really don't think things are that cluttered when post icons are added as they are just another column in the viewforum section. How is it any worse than the amount of views listed to the left of the post or the information telling who was the last person to post. Both seem to me to be a bit more useless. If everyone has dealt with those for this long, why is there a fear that this will cause such a mess or be such a problem? Is it just a problem with change or is there a valid reason?

having [FB] or [QB] would still be a post icon, but it would be a text version so it would not really be going against the majority, I just think it would look better(more professional even). And as far as the other views such as who was the last person to post, are common to most forum boards.

Good luck. Go make three icons, that clearly show what they mean, in any and all resolution.
And just text is silly, as already pointed out by Sumo. It would go against the whole purpose..
