I can get a hold of .NET. Is it possible to take the C++ compiler from .NET and tell DevC++ to use that instead of its own? My programming class uses .NET, but I much prefer DevC++'s editor.
f you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows.

:o You prefer Dev-C++'s editor?! You're the first person I've ever talked to who did...

What's wrong with the VC++ editor?

Some people just prefer it...I guess the clunky interface reminds them of their second nerdly home in Linux. Big Grin

Bloodshed sounds cool. Who would have ever come up with a name like that for a compiler? :o

I quite like Dev-C++, but it always crashes when i have the option on that reads your structs etc, to provide auto completion tips. I guess i've just got used to its occasional hissy-fits now.

Anyone can get ahold of dotnet...the dotnet framework contains the compilers.

are you sure? i thought the framework itself was about 200Mb. I've got VB, C# and J# Express Editions and they take a whole cd each including the beta framework.

Personally though i don't use them, as i think its asking too much of people to download a 200Mb+ framework just to run one of my programs.

The .NET framework 1.1 required to run programs is about 11 Mb. I have it 'cause I use several programs from Sony (ACID and Vegas Video mainly) which require it. I think it comes with some Windows Update.
