Recently i've been running low on HD space, so i was going to reformat my linux partition. However, the only thing that stands in my way is Grub. How can I successfully remove it? I tried just reformattin g the partition (stupidly) and ended up having to reinstall linux b/c grub wasn't working properly. Any help here on removing grub? Thanks in advance.

If the OS you want to run is Windows of an NT variety (like XP), boot from the install CD and run 'fixboot' and 'fixmbr' from the Recovery Console.

I already thought of that, but that's the crappy thing about getting a newer computer. They don't come with install cd's, but with windows imaged to discs... so put in the cd, and it'll restore your computer to it's factory condition. Anyone got a installation cd i can borrow?

Depending on how the OEM installed Windows, you might also have the option to start the Recovery Console from the menu you get when you push F8 at the Windows startup screen.
