Thanks all, again!

Zack,

Yes, Passover and the Sede (or is it Seda)? I was invited to one once. I think I mentioned it to you before. Anyway, had a truly wonderful time, especially with the singing.

BTW, I can never figure it out. When is Passover this year? Is there a formula for computing the start of Passover?

Regards.

It's Seder (pronounced say-der). The word means "Order" in Hebrew.
The Jewish calendar is complex...I haven't studied it and I don't really understand it, but it's lunar and we have our own different months and leap-years and stuff. I know a guy who dedicates a lot of time to studying it, and he's made some interesting discoveries.
Passover begins on the 15th day in Nisan, a month in the Hebrew calendar, and that is always on the full moon. This year (it's different every year), in the secular calendar it begins April 23rd.

The wine, I assume, is Manishevitz (spelling?) made with Concord grapes.

Also, help me with the spelling of these great songs:
Hava Nagila
Shalom Malejim

I can sing the words by rote, but I can't spell them, nor do I know what the words mean.

Yes, you got Hava Nagila right.
Hava nagila, hava nagila
Hava nagila venis'mecha
..Repeat..
Hava neranena, hava neranena
Hava neranena venis'mecha
Uru, uru achim
Uru achim belev same'ach
Translation:
Let us rejoice, let us rejoice
Let us rejoice and be glad,
..Repeat..
Let us sing, let us sing
Let us sing, and be glad
Awaken, awaken brothers
Awaken brothers with a happy heart
Fairly simple lyrics.

For the second song, do you mean Shalom Aleichem?
The song is much longer, so I won't post or translate here, but the title means "Peace be upon you".

Zack,

Yes, that's it, Shalom Aleichem.
It starts out:
Avenu shalom aleichem......
What a great song! I once heard a cantor sing it with all the feeling and emphasis. Tremendous!

Thanks for all the info, good buddy.
