Oblivion
#1
Holy shit. I'm going to say it right off the bat. I don't even know where to begin describing the awesomeness of this game. I only have the graphics on medium and it still makes my eyes cry with happiness. Right now I have a level 7 theif who has vampirism and is trying to heal it. I said f*** the main quest, I don't like oblivion, so I have been doing my own thing for 20 hours. I've stolen over 3K+ worth of stuff...Hmm, I suppose I'm just rambling, but its just so cool to do whatever you want. Other than the fact I couldn't swim across one ocean, I have indeed been able to do whatever I wanted. Go anywhere within the bounds of the huge realm, join the hard to find thieves guild, sneak through hundreds of buildings stealing valuables, bite unsuspecting victims...etc etc etc. I guess I will stop now, but has anyone else experienced this cool game?

You know, I did have a post for it.

Oblivion is still not as good as it could have been. I've noticed several bugs (i.e. shop-keeper gold not going down), and also the arrow shooting isn't as interesting as in "Fable".

Oblivion compares to "Fable" in terms of graphics quality, more so due to slightly malleable terrain and more realistic faces/AI.

Oblivion is also pretty big (though not THAT big --but a hell of a lot bigger than "Fable"), and I imagine they're working on an expansion right now.

Game is very choppy with multiple attackers. Mouse is choppy when in front of particle effects. (fire mostly)

I also crashed a few times but due to frequent autosaves it was OK.

Yeah, quicksaves save me from that. ... I am not sure if the shopkeeper gold is supposed to go down ( I guess it makes sense) I had just assumed that was the maximum amount of money they could give you, it makes more sense as a bug :rotfl: . The only other problem I have (and it could just be me) is that at certain points I can't continue on quests. This happened to me first on a theives guild quest, but now that I have a character doing the main quest, its a lot more annoying. If you have gotten past this part can you tell me if I am doing something wrong? I have killed one of the bruma spies like Jeoff told me and then he told me to find the other two and kill them as well, unfortunatly, I don't know where to start. I can't get any info out of him, the other blades, Martin, Bruma townspeople, Bruma Guards, or the Burd the Bruma captain...Maybe I will try waiting at the shrine again, though I doubt that is it.

edit: ok turns out the shrine IS where I was supposed to go for the 2nd one, i guess no more problems, lol.

I haven't killed the spies yet, but I did get randomly attacked by two of the agents in the Imperial City. Maybe they are the same. Dunno. I'm afraid that if I advance the main storyline without doing anything else (e.g. training), the world will get much worse without me being able to do anything about it.

I'm having loads of fun making potions...

Just got to play it for a few hours on my brother's rig while he was out. HUGE sense of deja-vu from when I first played Morrowind; I suppose that's a good thing, actually. Smile
And no, contrary to what some might think I did not pick Khajit as my race...

But yes, the game. It really does have the exact same feel as Morrowind. My brother's computer can just handle it, so it has to be on low graphic settings, so maybe that's what's giving me the whole morrowind vibe. Tongue

The conversation system is tons of fun, seriously, I could spend hours at that if I could FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET OUT OF IT... Really, the only way I could find was to keep saying things they hated until it stopped for me. How the hell do you quit while you're ahead?

Combat's okay, nothing special there, though I do admit, blade weapons make a VERY satisfying meaty slice sound when you strike something fleshy. Tongue

I'll have to play it more to continue, really. Overall it's excellent, very enjoyable thus far, even if it doesn't match Half-Life 2 in overall atmosphere... Seriously, HL2 has oblivion beat into the ground as far as human character models and natural movement/lipsynching goes. I'm not talking about polycount or whatever fancy effects, either... It just seems like nothing can beat HL2 for natural and, well, good looking movement and appearance. Though, I have yet to play Oblivion on the highest settings, so we'll see.

You must use them all. :-(

Just try to catch the topics they like with the bigger orange thingos. As you advance in speechcraft, you'll be able to do... slightly more complicated maneuvers in this "minigame".
