What is his trend over time though? Perhaps he's been posting more or less than the statistical mean, thus making your calculations inaccurate?

Yes, you are right.
I was taking that the average of his posts over the four years he has been here would hopefully smooth out any unusual periods and rises and falls, however it cant remove long term trends.

what you could do is retake the calculation every week or so and build a graph of the results (date of calculation vs predicted date of 10000 posts) (which would probably be rising or falling), then project it until it hits the same date on both axes, giving a more accurate prediction.

There was a time where I did not make a single post in 3 months. I also happened to post a whole lot more back in the days where I was new here, as there was plenty of stuff going on in the QB scene. I topped 9 posts a day, specially when I was involved in some development or maybe during the compo aetherFox and I threw in this forum in 2002.

Now I find it hard to make 5 posts a day. I think that it's 3 in the best cases, and there's plenty of days when I don't even post.

You can bet that I will not get 10,000 until 2008. I'm sure of that.
