I have a question. I've been reading up on full-auto assault rifles, but I don't understand their firing rates. Take France's FAMAS:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FAMAS
Its rate of fire is 950 rounds per minute, which works out to about 15 rounds per second. The magazine holds up to 30 rounds. So it takes two seconds to empty a magazine? Then it must be impossible to fire less than 5 rounds at a time, which works out to six seperate pullings of the trigger before a reload.
So what's the deal?

Dont play enough video games do you? Ever heard of burst fire?
From the very article you "read"
Quote:Fire rate is controlled by the selector just forward of the trigger. The selector has three settings: safe, single shot, and fully automatic fire. Another selector allowing for three-shot burst fire is located under the housing and behind the magazine.
You very rarely want to use full automatic. You wont hit anything.

So then why make it capable of full-auto at all?
And I just linked to that article, I never said I read it.

police here use the mp5 with extended stock for some sniper situations. IE on the rooftops of court buildings.

I thought the MP5 was classified as a sub machine gun... didn't know it was a rifle. (I guess I've played too much CS... It's a pretty nice gun in the game, but it's not good at all for long-range stuff. The FAMAS is in there as well.
) Either way, that seems a bit much for rabbit hunting.
