QuickBASIC vs. QBasic
#11
It was a joke Wildcard made (I think it was WC) when I was the only one with more than 1,500 messages (I think it's 1,500), so he set up the site so people who reach 1,500 messages get that rank.

Considering that most people here have more than the couple hundred posts to be a "guru", I think ranks should be redesigned

na_th_an's right. Just because I am able, on a few occasions, to teach someone some little thing doesn't make me a guru. And, posting a bunch of times doesn't make me a guru, either, just a frequent poster.

And Moneo, as for you saying that most people use Qbasic and thus cannot compile - Most people just dont understand the difference and use the terms interchangably.

I had used Qbasic 1.1 for a quite a while, I had no idea there was a version available with a compiler. When I finally came across QuickBASIC 4.5, it was like my world exploded! Much faster interpreting in general, and WOW! I could finally compile my programs. The IDE was more advanced too. It had more options. Kinda funny huh.

That's exactly right. You hit the nail on the head! Most QBasic users don't need to compile and get a real .EXE executable, so it's all the same to them.
