NetZero reuires you to use their software, because it "features" an 'always-on-top' video advertisement everytime you log on! yay!

then IE pops up, and if you close ie, it asks you if you wanna disconnect from the net (who wouldn't after closing ie, it's the ONLY way to use the net!)

and if you don't click no fast enough, it assumes you want out, and d/c you automatically!! amazing.

I know NetZero requires you to use their own software, but what was being referred to was the way the connection is handled at the low level...the hardware drivers. AOL installs its own proprietary driver (the AOL Dialup Adapter, for example), while other ISPs use the regular one. I'm pretty sure NetZero still uses the regular one.

You can make it go in the BG, but you have to do it every time.. or stop what your doing until it reconnects...

.. I normaly open Firefox first, and it swicthes it to defualt, so when IE gets closed, it never asks if I wanna disconect.. -_- Annoying still

Ohh yes.... It makes my day to read that, :^_^:

I've been Net-Window shoping.... So far, I've found a highly rated one that has their dail up solfware as optional, meaning you have to use Window's dailer (www.myexcel.com : Excel internet, anyone ever hear of them? Seems to have more good/great than ok/bad).. Tho, I might look around some more on Epinions.com for others.... Netzero got mixed reviews there btw,(good/ok to really bad)...

Yeah, it still uses the "standard" network adapter.

@rattra: I recently got Ultra Edit 32 (awesome IDE), and its neat because everytime i get kicked (many, many times; as josiah =o), i can just set ultra edit to "always on top" until netzero's done doing its thing XD.

haha, cool.... Tongue

What gets me though, I bought my modem based on good user reviews, and the cliam it was designed to be extremely steady even in the roughest signals.... AOL would tear it up over some really small sites.. and now, NetZero claims it's "Unstable" giving me Error 20 ever damn time I turn around....... I thinks, NetZero is unstable.... Cause I've tweaked my modem to all NZ's suggested settings.. Still nothing..

Pretty ticked out modem too... it lacks that annoying "click" contact.. though, it makes up for it w/ a loud feedback speaker... NZ fault however,... fails to mute it like it clames it can in settings... heh... Windows dails and sets the speaker to a lower volume, proving agian, NZ's solfware suxz...

Oh well....
