DarkBASIC Pro

Quote:Ever hear of...

FreeBasic? :winkwink:

Yeah, I've heard of that somewhere.... :nerd:
DarkBASIC Pro have a built in 3D-Engine that supports loading of 3ds models, .X models, BSP maps, collision detection and what not. Thought that would be good. But..... ...... I'll stick with FreeBASIC, just need to find a nice 3D engine, don't have the time and patience to code one myself. Yeah, I'm a lazy son of a bitc*
I'm already working on another 3D engine in DevC++, but darn I hate C++....

Talk to DrDavenstein. I think he and drv are the same people, but I don't know for sure...

Maybe for an FPS you should use somthing more like C or C++.

Yeah, it costs money... :pirate:
The thing is I love the BASIC language, so using C or CPP is not an option for me... Not much to do about that when I'm in love

I've heard something about a compiler called FPSCreator, but I can't find any reviews on that one either... :crying: ...and FPSCreator sounds so... hmm, "one-way-direction", I wanna make other games too, not just FPS (in the future)...
Why don't you take a C engine like eDuke32 or Source and use that as a base? You wouldn't need to modify much, probably just a variable or two if you can work with the base weapons set. More if you want to go into your own weapons, possibly. I haven't done it but I've heard that's the easy way out(from Call For Help).

Darkbasic is good, it's really fast and easy to use. FPSCreator is for people who don't program, but you can make your game in like 3 days though.
f you play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear demonic voices. The scary part is that if you play it forwards it installs Windows.

Here's a program showing that FreeBASIC is more than fast enough to do a FPS. I've been working on a much better engine for some time, but I haven't posted anything showing what it's really capable of yet. It still needs some work. Wink

Darkbasic pro is good. you'll find an example on how to do an fps in the example folder. The only thing you have to know is how to create 3d characters basically. It'll cost some thought.

I can create 3d characters.
1. Open Blender, make text, set extrude depth. Voila. One step!
