Well, I also suffered that 56K nightmare a bit ago, and I didn't care to download something when it was worth to.
I remember downloading that 27 Mb SFA3, getting the decrypted roms, and patching it myself one month before it was officially released patched. When you want something, you just don't care about your downloading speed

I downloaded the DirectX 8 SDK(128 megs) to see theproduct.de, I now I could have downloaded the run time but I wanted the SDK too ok ;-) That was on dialup and took ages....

I also did!!! LOL!! I had a "pay per month". I payed about $15 a month and I had internet from 18:00 to 8:00 with my 56Kbps modem.

Yes I did, paid £8 GBP a month fixed rate off peak. It did take a while but I use ravenget and just left it running while I continued browsing.
