The BASIC Techniques and Utilites Book by Ethan Winer is highly recommended. Many of the techniques lke "reading large chunks of input" are covered in chapter 6. Chapter 9 is dedicated to optimizing code.

There are nine chapter, a lot of BAS code, ASM code, etc. There's something there for all of us.

This guy is considered the top authority on QuickBasic.

I think the guy's kind of full of himself. It's a good book though. But for QBasic? It's too self-explanatory and has too good a documentation for books to be of great necessity.
i bet he says nothing about making array pointers in array in qb...
and answer forums then? Simply reading that book would eliminate the need for whole bunches of questions. (Besides, it doesn't have to be a "great necessity" to be useful.) Smile
