I just downloaded it. Seems alright - took a bit of time for me to figure out that I needed to configure it for Mozilla, IE, MSN Messenger and Kazaa. But anyway, if you have it, what do you think of it? Should I keep it?
My dad has it on his computer-- it seems pretty good there, except it had certain side effects... for example, GIF's don't work while ZA is enabled and running, and sometimes links that go to popup windows don't work (understandably).

Odd - GIFs work fine for me, and everything seems alright re popups (like the phpBB Private Message popup). Maybe it's because I just got the barebones, free firewall, without paying for the antivirus and popup blocker.
I use it. I like it. Some people said kerio is better. Really i dont care, i have both Zonealarm +xp firewall running (although xp firewall doesnt seem to let emule even start, so i never bother using it(emule)).

Just be sure to manually set your games to decline/accept or whatever, before loading/and after patching them. Or expect to crash you computer.
You mean to set ZoneAlarm to accept my games, rather than letting that thing popup saying "it wants the internet"?
No, manually set each game to accept it SO it doesnt ask, if you want you can let all programs use it but then it wont let you know when viruses/spyware tried to connect to the net, which means your firewall works only one way.

I block some of my games, since i dont see why they need to connect to the net.
I don't like zonealarm myself as when it was on my computer t eventually bodged up the computer.
I think its great - Good clear interface, proper blocking, allows the correct programs to access he internet, etc. It certainly beats Mcafee, which we had before. Mcafee wouldn even allow my programs (msngr, etc) to access the internet, even with them added to the total access list. Zone alarm is brilliant, especially seeing as its free. I have no problems with GIFs. One tip (you may already be doing this, but-) if you see a program trying to access the internet that you dont recognise, do a internet search. Eg. on my computer "Motive Chorus Daemon" was trying to access the internet, 5mins later I learnt that it was just part of my ISP - BT internet. Although later I was a bit confused about why "SVSpool.exe" (or somthing like that) was trying to access the internet, conisdering it is to do with the printer....

You mean within the game? AFAIK Return to Castle Wolfenstein doesn't have an option to be "ZoneAlarm friendly".
you set up the options for what it allows when the pop up pops up (always allow maybe) or you could go into the options iirc.
