It's the almighty handheld Icom IC-T90A. Finally picked it up yesterday. Big Grin
After trying it out (it was half-charged out of the box), I immediately fell in love with it once I iniated my first contact on the air. I talked to VE3RTT and VE3ZYZ, I believe, although I can't quite remember. Nerve-wracking at first, for some strange reason.
Here's the radio specs if it means anything to anyone...

Smile Heh, its almost like a cell-phone... wonders if Morse Code is as hard as they say Text-Massages are.. hmm.. :???:

 Glad you got a radio, I remember a thread where you said you got a lisience or something to do with radios.. Smile
One thing I dont really understand is - What do you talk about? I couldnt see myself randomly dialling a telephone number and talking with the person who answers Smile
dark_prevail you do somthing simler to that right now.

posting on the forum the same idea. talking with complete strangers.

the telephone medium in the early days was alot like this in the Phreaker community were groups of kids in the 80's basicly hacked the phone lines and set up big confrence call's were anyone anywere could connected to.

oh well before my time Smile

That's what people do in chats. It's not very strange Wink

Well, at least in the ol' days where IM were sci-fi. he he
Well, for regional contacts (within your city/region), it's very casual. I talked yesterday with VE3RTT about how I just got my license, first radio, how do I sound, etc.
I heard people talking about traffic, weather, cars, and OF COURSE about the amateur radio hobby. Anything goes, as long as it isn't too sensitive a topic, and it's relatively polite. Rather like the General section of a forum. Smile

I had already thought of that, but talking on a forum usually is a result of people brought together by a common topic, (in this case BASIC)

Smile Heh, how bout lisinting to several radio's at once waiting for your number to be called up... or at least thats what my dad used to have to do as a cop... sounds as if it get confusing that way, heh....

No1 has ever answered if Morse-Code is as hard as a text message yet... oh well, I only really remember (. . . _ _ _ . . .).. S.O.S. if I'm remembering right..
That's right.
Well, Morse Code is easy. A month and you'll be up to 5 wpm easy.
Nice going there Zack. I think I should try to get a hammy's license in this vacation =P
