nope, nadam zilch, i wonder why it isnt working
Yeah, I also think that the \NUL is the problem with Windows 2000 and XP. But, \NUL is the only way I know of testing for the existence of a directory. Any ideas?

im not even sur how the shell or any of the program really works, if only my old cpu was still hooked up, it opens on dos and then you have to open windows 95, if only the hard drive wasnt screwd up

Was that FB under DOS or FB under Windows?

It ran program in a DOS window that was approximately 680x340 as a Window that you can move around (not fullscreen), I am also running at 1024x768 screen resolution.

Freebasic comes in several versions, of which one is a DOS version and the other is a Windows version. My question was which of these two versions are you running? I suspect that the SHELL with \NUL might work differently in these two versions of FB.

I was running the Windows run with the interface and all that jazz. Atleast I believe it is the Windows version...

Axipher,

You final conclusions of the tests you did are not quite clear, but thanks for doing the tests anyway.

By what do you mean my conlusions were not clear, I tried the program using fb, tried a directory I knew existed, c:\, and it said "YES IT EXISTS". I was running in Windows XP home SP2, using FBide 0.4.3.0 and fbc.exe as the compiler.

Ok, thanks axipher.
Conclusions so far:
* QB compiled program DOESN'T work under Windows 2000 or XP.
* FB compiled program DOES work under Windows XP.
