Web Design Challenge(s)
#21
Does the site need to actually _do_ anything... like php, database, multiple pages, etc?

Cause wouldn't it just be a snap to put it together in psp with slices? What skill is there in that, apart from a sense of design?

html is more complicated than using a slice generator. It works, but to make room for the text it takes a little more architecture than that. Besides, arent generators banned?

EDIT: I was out of town since wednesday, and I came back a few hours ago. I didnt see anything in my email, and there hasnt been a private message sent to me. Has the contest started yet?

EDIT PART DEUX: Nevermind. I just noticed Wildcard's "wait" post from from today. Sorry for my ignorance, buddy.

Did anyone say it wasn't ;-) :rotfl:

Edited the bit date in the previous post above, I'll stick with the date rather than day.

Who is judging?

And when you say "don't add too much", I'm thinking that you'll be able to triple the content and still not have enough. What I mean is, can we use placeholder text (anyone got "Lorem dipsum..." anywhere?) to fill the design?

Also, when you say "break up the page", you mean use multiple pages? Or all on the same page, with breaks?

Is it too late to join?

Sorry I only rejoined QBNews today....

Urm...I haven't seen the information, but from what I just read, this seems a little pointless...

The dude with the Agent Smith avatar (i THINK it was wizardlife) made the smartest comment here about the fact that there needs to be something other than a sense of design. Maybe someone has good sense of design, but then you are completely eradicating a chance for a good coder. A better task would be "here is a template. Make this so that it works with a php CMS backend (query string template for php proggiers) and remake the design).

Also, to clear up the little CSS dispute. CSS does save space, but to a user, it would look the same without. Depending on the judging style of this contest, it could or couldn't make a difference. As far as I can tell, it shouldn't make a difference, but standards are changing and professional webdesign is leading to efficient CSS use.

Too late now, but for the next one, judging should be:
1) Techincal (cool looking not easy to make stuff, scripting use)
2) Aesthetic
3) Speed/Efficiency
4) Niceness (cant think of a better word, just appealing as an interface etc)

1) 30%
2) 20%
3 ) 30%
4) 20%

Dunno, just seems more sensible.
And you guys were talking about image layouts...they aren't necesarily better you know...they take WAY to long to load....is that compulsory?

Gonna PM you wc

Hail.

aetherfox: Its a webdesign challenge, it simple but there are already two completed entries.

oracle: Don't get too hung up on technicalities, its a creative contest. Breaking up the page can be either, its up to you.
