About the .COM topic...Sometimes when I'm bored I write some simple assembly code and have Debug turn it into machine code for me, and put that machine code into a .COM file. It runs!

On the topic of renaming to .COM instead of .EXE, I think (note that I said THINK ) that DOS doesn't even look at the filename extension beyond the fact that it knows an executable file has one of those extensions; it doesn't care which one. It figures out what's in it by reading a header in normal EXEs... I think... btw, this is off-topic too. The speedlemon guy wanted to share his oh-so-wonderful experiences in switching to QB from VB or something...
